Gradara is one of the most beautiful and romantic medieval villages best preserved in Italy. Dominating the village is the Gradara’s Castle, already visible from the highway, which rises on a hill at 142 meters. high, between narrow streets, stone houses and walkways. Ruled at the time by several lordships such as the Malatesta, the Sforza and the Della Rovere, it was the setting for the love story between Paolo and Francesca, which Dante described in the divine Poem. There are several festivals and historical re-enactments that are proposed, including the Siege to the Castle.
