The capital of spirit, art and poetry, Urbino, is also called the Pearl of the Renaissance and is the birthplace of Raffaello Sanzio. The Ducal Palace, with its Renaissance architecture, is home to the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche. Since 1998 its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also renowned for being one of the oldest and most important universities in Europe.
